It’s here! Facebook 2.0 is out for beta testers and it rocks! yes I know I like SocialScope and i still do, but wow! Facebook 2.0 is a HUGE improvement.

Facbook 2.0 has a ton of new features including a redesigned user interface and Facebook chat. Facebook chat even seamlessly blends in with the unified mailbox. When you are “online” in Facebook chat all new chat notifications are in your mailbox. Highlighting and clicking them will take you straight to the conversation.

The news feed has been revamped as well. You can now like, comment, and view items right from the feed as well as post new pictures and status updates as well as check in to Facebook Places.

Also, up top we have a new navigation bar. From there you can get to anything in the app. Clicking the drop down tab brings up the full app menu in a beautiful overlay.

One last thing… a “today” style view.  Perfect.  Again, look at the top of the app and navigate to the left set of icons. Clicking that brings up a “Today” style overlay that displays all of your notifications, messages, friend requests, and active chats. Again, perfect.

I have to admit, this release is amazing. The app, even though it is only a beta, is performing flawlessly and aside from a few (small) complaints is perfect for even the heaviest Facebook user.

And we thought the update to include Facebook Places was good!
