Google Maps w/ Navigation

To have neglected writing about Google Maps for so long is like forgetting to breathe, or sleep, not like I sleep anyway but who cares right? With Google Maps you don’t have to worry about anything whether you need to find it or find a way to get to it this app has got you covered.
Let’s start off with it’s drawback; No voice navigation. Hey we use BlackBerry’s not Android devices right? (Btw RIM.. Where is our navigational love? Android has GMs w/voice and I believe Windows phones have a Bing backed app w/ voice). With that one (big) drawback out of the way we can continue with the good stuff.
What Google Maps does have is impressive enough:

  • voice search
  • street view
  • navigation (text)
  • one touch calling
  • layers

To get started just open the app press the call (green) key and say what you’re searching for. You’ll be presented with your answer or choices. Choose one and you’ll be taken right to the location and from there you can read reviews, call the business or person, get directions, or even see the street view (if available). Don’t worry old schoolers you can type what you’re looking for too and be presented with the same results and options.
All in all this is definitely one of my favorite apps. A real keeper.
